Uranus at opposition

- Uranus reaches opposition, when Earth lies almost directly between Uranus and the Sun.
o - At this time, Uranus is at its closest to Earth for the year and reaches its brightest apparent magnitude, making this one of the best opportunities to observe the distant ice giant.
o - Uranus will shine at approximately magnitude +5.6 in the constellation Taurus (The Bull).
o - Under exceptionally dark skies, it may just be visible to the naked eye, but binoculars or a telescope will make it much easier to find.
