Barnard objects are a historic and visually striking set of dark nebulae
catalogued by American astronomer Edward Emerson Barnard in the early 20th century.
These dense clouds of interstellar dust obscure the light from stars behind them,
creating dramatic silhouettes against the Milky Way.
