- NGC objects refer to entries in the New General Catalogue, one of the most comprehensive and widely used astronomical catalogues for deep-sky objects. Compiled by Danish-Irish astronomer John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888, the NGC contains 7,840 objects, including galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, and more.
