- the natural satellite of the earth.
- visible by reflected light from the sun.
- it takes the Moon 27.3 days to make a complete orbit around the Earth, but because the Earth is moving around the sun at the same time, it takes the moon 29.5 days.
- it orbits at an average distance of about 30 times the diameter of Earth.
- Over time Earth’s gravity has caused tidal locking, causing the same side of the Moon to always face Earth.
- The moon’s age is 4.53 billion years.
