Asterism
A group of stars that is smaller than a constellation

Summer Triangle
An asterism can be part of a constellation, such as the Summer Triangle, which is formed by the three bright stars Deneb, Altair, and Vega.

The Coathanger asterism is a star pattern that forms the main part of an open star cluster called Brocchi’s Cluster, also known as Collinder 399. Unsurprisingly, given its informal nickname, the pattern really does look rather like a coat hanger!
